These Carrier Terms & Conditions apply whenever Sealead Freight arranges or performs carriage of your goods, whether acting as carrier or as agent for a carrier, and form part of every shipment we handle.
We may act as the carrier or as agent for a third-party carrier. Either way, we coordinate any subcontractors involved and remain your single point of contact for the shipment.
We can decline or hold a consignment that is unsafe, undeclared, prohibited, or inadequately packed. The Shipper is responsible for declaring the nature, weight, dimensions and value of the goods accurately at booking.
Unless we have agreed a specific route with you, the method and timing of carriage are at our discretion, and we may use transshipment or substitute carriers where needed. Delivery is made to the consignee or an authorised agent, and a signed or electronic delivery record serves as proof of delivery.
Liability for loss or damage is governed by the international convention that applies to the mode of transport (Hague-Visby, Montreal or CMR) and by these terms where no convention applies. You can declare a higher value in writing, and pay the applicable charge, to increase our liability on that shipment.
We are not liable for loss or damage caused by the nature of the goods themselves, inadequate packing, an act or omission of the Shipper, or events beyond our reasonable control, including customs holds, strikes or force majeure.
Cargo insurance is not included in our standard rates. We can place cover on request and provide a certificate for the insured shipment. Confirm your cover needs at booking, particularly for high-value or fragile cargo.
We may hold goods in our possession against unpaid charges owed on that shipment or a previous one for the same account, and, where charges remain unpaid, recover them from the value of the goods.
Note any visible damage or shortage at the time of delivery. Send written notice of a claim as soon as possible, and within the time limit set by the convention that applies to the shipment's mode of transport.
Freight charges and any surcharges are quoted at booking and may be adjusted for currency, fuel or regulatory changes that occur before the shipment moves. Charges are payable under our Terms of Service.
Reach out and our team will be glad to walk you through it.
